The Perfect Canvas: Carving the River-Cured Texture of Inland Cedar
When we source a piece of river driftwood, the carving often already exists inside. The river current dictates the initial shape; we just follow its lead. This irregular, aged cedar challenges us to adapt our chainsaw art, ensuring that no two carvings are ever the same. The deep fissures become the bear's textured fur, and the natural curves inform the eagle's pose. We don't fight the wood—we honor the natural artistry of this beautiful Northwest cedar.
